What does a broom, feather duster, mop, vacuum cleaner and blow torch have in common? Well the first four objects are typically used to clean with. However, a blow torch a cleaning utensil? Not for most people with the exception of a West Georgia man who accidentally set his home ablaze after using a blow torch to get rid of cob webs.
Coweta County authorities say Galen Winchell set fire to his home Wednesday as he cleaned cobwebs from exterior eaves using – you guessed it, a blowtorch. Winchell noticed the blaze when he saw smoke pouring from the attic.
Local fire investigator James Gantt says the fire was confined to one part of the house, but the entire home had smoke and water damage. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
